What exactly is a pergola? A pergola is a simple structure that is usually built with roof beams and vertical beams and they typically do not have a solid roof or walls. Pergolas….gazebos…what is the difference? The difference mainly comes down to their visual structures. Gazebos provide an eye catching ornamental feature in your landscape, shelter, shade and somewhere you can rest. And, if you build a large enough gazebo they can serve as bandstands!
